Tasting Australia, presented by RAA Travel 2024, allowed visitors from around the world to experience the world-famous food and drink of regional South Australia.
The state's tourism regions hosted more than 50 events this year, including sold-out events such as a unique experience at the Umpherston Sinkhole on the Limestone Coast, a partnership between El Estanco and Alkina in the Barossa and a superyacht sailing trip around Kangaroo Island. Other events included winemaking classes in the Riverland, an oyster farming breakfast at Streaky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula and a Grenache tasting in the Barossa.
To draw festival-goers to areas outside the festival, local cuisine and hospitality were highlighted in the CBD. For example, the popular Town Square Canteen series featured restaurants from around the state, including Lost Phoenix Farm (Fleurieu Peninsula), Line and Label (Eyre Peninsula) and Sunset Food and Wine (Kangaroo Island).
Minister for Tourism, Zoe Bettison said Tasting Australia presented by RAA Travel served up South Australia’s delicious produce to locals and visitors alike, helping cement our state’s reputation as a must-visit food and wine destination.
"During the festival we heard time and time again from world-leading chefs that the produce from regional South Australia is among the best in the world, something visitors to our state can enjoy all year round.
One of the wonderful things about Tasting Australia is how the benefits of this major event are spread right across the state, helping showcase our state’s produce and highlighting the many incredible destinations on offer across regional South Australia. This includes the natural wonder of Umpherston Sinkhole in the Limestone Coast to unique oyster farm experiences in the Eyre Peninsula.”

Highlights of the festival included the brand new, sold-out Tasting Australia by Train event, which ran from Melbourne to Adelaide, offering a 10-hour day trip with experiences curated by Karena Armstrong, Jae Bang and Cheong Liew aboard The Ghan's dining and bar cars.
During the inaugural festival, guests from other states made a direct trip to rural South Australia by chartering a plane from Melbourne to Naracoorte on the Limestone Coast as part of the fully booked Tasting Australia Airlines experience.
Tasting Australia is one of the country's oldest food and wine festivals, having been established in 1997. The 18th edition will take place in the fall of 2025.
